Our Goal: Simplify Charcoal Cooking

How we did it

So how did BBQitALL come about? Jennifer and I have a really small home, 850 square feet small. With our super small kitchen, and the dozens of guests we entertain every year, we needed an economical way to cook large meals outdoors to make some desperately needed room in the kitchen, especially during the holidays. So I got a Weber kettle and learned how to roast turkeys in it. But checking the coals and the temperature all the time was a real chore. So after dozens of prototypes, and over two years of testing, the BBQitALL ring was born!

My goal was to make charcoal cooking easy and versatile. BBQitALL is a specially ventilated ring that burns the charcoal around your food for up to 12 hours without having to change the charcoal. It creates a flareup free indirect heat with plenty of room for cooking those large low and slow items like turkeys or large cuts of meat, but it's equally great for cooking high temperature items like: pies, breads, cakes or whatever you can dream of. The secret is the ring that holds the fuel with just the right spacing so that it burns efficiently, and the fire walls that allow different temperatures: a single roll burn for low and slow heat, two rows for medium heat or multiple row burns for high heat. BBQitALL is made from food grade high quality stainless steel sourced right here in the United States. I also designed it to ship flat which made it much more environmentally friendly to ship and cut the shipping costs in half.

Why do we make it in the US?

BBQitALL is made 100% in the US (except for the screws, which are made in Taiwan). We believe making BBQitALL in the US is more efficient overall and allows us to control quality better. Plus, we like using our hands and keeping busy.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper if you we it overseas? Possibly, but I designed BBQitALL with a patented process that greatly reduces our costs for the very purpose of making a competitively priced U.S. made product. We believe making BBQitALL in the U.S. allows us to be more responsive to our customers by constantly improving and testing BBQitAll. Plus, It’s fun!

About Me

I started my working life as a cook for 7 years where I learned my way around a kitchen. I then changed careers, becoming a professional model maker, making product prototypes and even models for theme parks and movies. That's where my love of product design took hold. As Industrial Designer for the last 35 years, I have created over 25 commercially successful products with over 20 patents to my name, but this work was always done for someone else. BBQitALL is the first product I have had the opportunity to design and sell completely myself. I feel fortunate to have created a reliable, long lasting product that's designed and made in completely the USA (except for the screws and nuts).

BBQitALL combines two of my biggest loves, cooking and design. I am proud to have created an economical, useful and sustainable product. I look forward to hearing the great things you will do with this very versatile and fun to use accessory!
